WebOS has been added to the list of systems that are supported by PhoneGap. This gives web app developers Javascript-based access to a variety of the phone’s features like accelerometer, notification, SMS, telephony, and network. PhoneGap also currently supports building apps on iPhone, Android, and certain BlackBerrys.

Some developers who’ve gotten a head-start working on applications for Palm’s webOS have indicated that they like what they see. A lot. Pandora’s CTO noted, “Everything about the Pre feels like it’s ‘future-oriented,’ not an iPhone-inspired knockoff.”
