Web designer Jay Robinson adds to Ext’s blog series on HTML5 with this great post covering CSS3:
“Many of the benefits people associate with ‘HTML5’ are actually provided by CSS3 and Javascript. Ultimately, HTML only defines content structure, while Javascript provides behavior and CSS provides presentation. CSS3 builds on the widely supported CSS2.1 spec, and allows for truly stunning interfaces.”

HTML5 Watch is a new blog I made last night. My goal is to collect examples of creative, innovative, and unexpected use of emerging web technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3. It’s an itch I need scratched for myself, and something I expect others will find useful too.
While looking for online tools to create and render music notation, I was mildly disappointed. The only real options were crummy flash based sites or clumsy server-side image renderers. Neither of these were particularly appealing.
So I pulled up my sleeves, and cooked up a full-fledged JavaScript API to engrave musical notation directly in the browser with the HTML5 Canvas element.

Paul Baukus has revealed the Aves Engine, a new gaming platform currently optimized for modern browsers. I had the pleasure of getting a preview of the platform from Paul at the recent jQuery conference—it’s some really impressive stuff, especially in regard to performance.
Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.
