Raphaël is a fantastic little Javascript library for creating SVG (and backwards-compatible VML) graphics. This has a slew of implications for charts, animations, and vector graphics on the web. From the author:

Raphaël’s goal is to provide an adapter that will make drawing vector art compatible cross-browser and easy… Raphaël currently supports Firefox 3.0+, Safari 3.0+, Opera 9.5+ and Internet Explorer 6.0+.
Yohei Shimomae from Nitobi has created five very cool CSS3 animation demos — all dynamically generated with Javascript.
Anthony Calzadilla has recreated an animated Star Wars AT-AT Walker purely with CSS3. Hopefully we’ll start to see things like this being integrated into games that run purely in the browser.
